Upland is a virtual property, strategy game designed to be Earth on metaverse. It was developed by Silicon Valley-based Uplandme, Inc., a game development company founded in 2018 by serial entrepreneurs. The game was launched in January 2020 after its beta-test in June 2019, where properties in a virtual San Francisco were sold.

Mapped to the real world, Upland is designed to be a real-estate simulator where players can own virtual properties and generate real-world earnings through them. Users can purchase properties with $UPX tokens, which can also be converted to fiat. They can grow their ownership by trading.
